Class RW/G Ladybird
Update - Nativity, Phonics and Parent Helpers
Thank you for sending in so many costumes for the Nativity. If you haven't sent one in yet we have our dress rehearsal on Thursday 28th November. If you are struggling to get a costume please let one of the staff know as we may have something suitable in our dressing up boxes in class.
The children are really becoming more confident singing and acting out the song. We look forward to seeing you for this lovely event.
In case you can't see the board on the gate, this Week's sounds are the vowel digraphs starting with ai, ee, igh and oa. As in rain (which we will be studying this week in Understanding the World) in teeth, night and boat.
Thank you for your continued support with phonics and reading and after parent's evening we are beginning to see that many children have also gained confidence with some new sounds and high frequency words.
Thank you to those of you who have offered to help. That should really help once we start Christmas card making etc... I will be sending out requests to make a rota for next term's Forest School helpers too.
Macmillan coffee day!
On Friday we will be hosting a cake sale for the children and a coffee morning for parents and carers. Cake donations can be brought in from Wednesday 25th. A letter was sent out via Parentpay with more details. There will be two coffee sessions; 9am and 2:15pm. We also have a wonderful group of children who will be entertaining you with their singing.
Please help us to support this incredible charity.

Welcome to School Ladybirds
Mrs.Wakeling and Miss.Wilson hope that you have had an amazing summer and we are both looking forward to you starting school. We can't wait to hear all about what you have been up to and to get to know you. We expect you are excited to come to school and play with all the new friends you are going to make. We have been busy getting the classroom ready for you to play in. See you on Monday!
The children have settled into school really well and have enjoyed their first week at Woodville. This week the children have stayed for lunch, had their first assembly and had their first PE lesson. All of the children have settled into school very well and had such a fantastic week. We hop[e they have come home with lots of exciting memories to share with you!
This afternoon the children will come home with their first book. This is a book to share with your child. Please encourage a discussion about the book and enjoy reading with them. Record this in the reading record as this allows us at school to talk to the children about the book they have had and we will do the same.
Have a fantastic weekend and we will see you Monday!
Phonics
Following on from our Parent Phonic Workshops, where there were questions regarding phases and pronunciation of sounds, here is a link that identifies each phonic phase (were new graphemes are taught). There is also a video demonstrating the pronunciation of pure sounds.
