Macmillan coffee day!

On Friday we will be hosting a cake sale for the children and a coffee morning for parents and carers. Cake donations can be brought in from Wednesday 25th. A letter was sent out via Parentpay with more details. There will be two coffee sessions; 9am and 2:15pm. We also have a wonderful group of children who will be entertaining you with their singing. 

Please help us to support this incredible charity.

Topics 📚

 

Autumn Term:

This term our topic is The Stone Age. In History the children will be finding out about life in the Stone Age and making comparisons to life today. In English we will also be reading Stone Age Boy and Stone Girl, Bone Girl. Our Science topics are Rocks and soils and Human and animals.

Homework and Reading ✏️

Homework is set each week on Maths Shed, Spelling Shed and ReadTheory and all children have log in details for these in their Reading Records. The children also have logins to Maths Frame and Timestable Rockstars which they can use to support their learning. 

 

PE  🏸

Outdoor PE is on a Monday and indoor PE is on Tuesdays. Please send your child to school in their PE kit. Remember no earrings can be worn during PE lessons. 

 

Swimming

We will have a block of 6 weeks swimming during the year. Dates to be confirmed!

Times Table Rockstars

GARAGE – times tables set by the teacher

JAMMING – choose your own times tables to practise. You are able to select multiplication, division or a mixture of both. You can also choose the number of questions to answer. 

STUDIO – general practise to improve your ‘Rock Status’. It will also give you your average speed.

SOUNDCHECK – this activity will give the children 6 seconds to answer a random set of 25 questions. This is the speed they will need once they get to Year 4 so they may not be ready for this speed just yet.

 

Macmillan Coffee morning/afternoon

 

Some children will be singing at the Macmillan Coffee event next week.  The children who would like to take part have taken a sheet of song lyrics home to practice.  The children will performing at both the morning and the afternoon time slots.
