Welcome to 4T's class page
Summer Term 2021
Welcome back! Our topic this term is World War II. We will be learning about the causes of the conflict and the events that took place. We will focus on what life was like in Britain during this time. Our 'Big Read' will be Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian.
In English, we will start by reading and writing instructions, before moving onto a poetry focus.
Our Maths work will focus on division to begin with and then move on to and make links to fractions. It is vital that we continue to learn and rehearse our times tables as knowing these will make such a difference to our understanding of fractions and division.
Our Science starts with learning about Electricity.
Don't forget PE day is now Tuesday. Make sure you come in PE kit on this day. Make sure you have enough water to drink (bring two bottles if needed) and a snack (the morning session is long!)
Return to School!
Thank you for all your hard work during lockdown. I am looking forward to seeing you all again next week! Don't forget your water bottle and your snack - we won't be having lunch before 12:30. We are returning to school in uniform and our PE day is now Tuesday - so make sure you come to school in your PE kit each Tuesday.
On Thursday this week (3/12), we will be being videoed performing our Christmas song and poem. If you wish, you may bring in a Christmas jumper and/or hat to wear for the performance. Please do not bring a full change of clothes, just something you can put on over your uniform. This is only if you want to, please don't go out and buy anything new!
On Friday this week (4/12), it is the KS2 cross country event. Please come into school in your PE kit and remember to bring a change of footwear and a carrier bag in case you get muddy!
Autumn Term 1
A big welcome back!
We hope you all had a lovely relaxing Summer break and the children feel ready and excited to return to school.
I am very much looking forward to seeing you all.
You may have mixed feelings about returning to school, but I will my best to help you settle back in and feel ready to learn in year 4.
Our topic for this term is Woodlands. We will be finding out about different trees and areas of woodland. We will also investigate the impact of deforestation.
In English we will be starting with some descriptive writing and then move on to writing some non-chronological reports. Our Maths work will begin with a focus on number and place value, as well as lots of times tables practice! In Science our starting point is 'Living things and their habitats'.
Don't forget, you only need a very small school bag and pencil case. You must bring a labelled water bottle and a fruit/vegetable snack for break if you want one. PE kits stay at home and you will be told which days you need to wear them.
Our outdoor PE day is WEDNESDAY - Please come into school each week dressed appropriately in your blue T shirt and shorts. You may wear a plain, dark coloured tracksuit over these and trainers are fine. Long hair must be tied back and no jewellery worn.
There will no no indoor PE for the time-being.
If you still have a school reading book at home from year 3, please can you bring this back to school as soon as possible.
