Class 2F

Welcome to 2F

Mrs Frankland's Class

All home learning lessons and resources can be found on Teams.

PE

PE will now take place on Thursday afternoons.  Please send your child into school in their outdoor PE kit on Thursday 7th January.  Remember, earrings should not be worn on any day (even on non PE days).

Maths

After Christmas, we are moving to year group bubble and so children will be grouped into two maths groups.  The children will find out their groups on their return to school.  The groups are changeable and may not remain the same for the entirety of Year 2.  The children will either be taught by Mrs Frankland or Miss Cohen.

Reading books

We will continue to change books on a Monday and a Friday.  Please ensure your child had their book on these days so they can be exchanged.

Homework

Homework will continue to be set on a Friday.  The children will have an activity on Microsoft Teams, MyMaths, TTRockstars and Spelling Shed.  Spelling Shed log in details will be given to the children on their return to school.

🌸 Spring Term 🌸

🔥 The Great Fire of London 🔥

This term we will be learning about The Great Fire of London and the Stuart times in our history lessons. We will hopefully be taking part in a virtual ‘History off the Page' day during the first half term.

In English we will be focusing on Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox. 🦊 for some of this term. We will be describing the characters, writing letters from the character’s perspective and then writing our own warning stories. In Science our topic is ‘Everyday Materials’ and we will be comparing properties and investigating suitability. In Maths we will be working on multiplication and division, as well as working hard on our reasoning skills.

Other information

Reading

At the moment, reading books will be changed on Mondays and Fridays. This is to ensure that books that have been read are quarantined for the appropriate amount of time before being given to another child.

Maths Homework

Weekly maths homework will be put on MyMaths every Friday. The children all have individual log ins for this.

During year 2, we will be learning the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables throughout the year. You can play lots of games online to help learn these including Hit the button and Times Table Rock Stars (which the children have an individual log in for).

PE
PE sessions in Year 2 will now be on Thursday afternoons (outdoor PE).

On these days, the children will need to come to school in their PE kits.

Remember earrings can not be worn and long hair must be tied back.
