Welcome to the Summer term
This half term we will be focusing our work on the story of St. George to start with and then looking at the story of The very hungry caterpillar.
The children have been working superbly in phonics. Many of the children are able to blend familiar sounds together to help with their reading and writing. They are extending their phonic knowledge and becoming confident to write simple sentences independently. During the summer term they will be writing at every opportunity, for example; stories, information facts and labels.
In maths we will be working on addition and subtraction by counting on and back. We will be learning our number bonds, starting with ways to make 5. We will be working to develop confidence with numbers to 20. We will also been doing a lot of work on practical aspects of maths working on measuring length and weight and becoming familiar with the associated language, for example, heaviest, lightest, longest, shortest etc. We will be doing more shopping and working on time. We will also be looking at problem solving and talking about sharing.
Please remember to keep working on sounds and reading at home with your child and remember to sign your child's reading record book when they read at home. There are also sounds to work on in the middle of the reading record books. Parental support makes such a huge difference to the children's progress so all the extra help you can give them is very beneficial in helping them progress.
Below are some of the fun activities we have been enjoying in school.
If you have any queries or questions please remember to see Mrs Wakeling or Miss Morris before or after school, thank you for your continued support.
