Welcome to our Class Page
3BG Mrs Basaras & Mrs Gibson
The children have all come back refreshed and eager to begin the new year!
Please note that the weather is extremely cold and we will be walking to swimming tomorrow. Please ensure that your child has a warm coat and preferably has a hat, gloves and scarf, particularly for the return walk!
In addition, we are currently looking at nutrition in science. Please could the children bring in some clean, empty food packets that have nutritional information charts on for next Tuesday's lesson.
Mrs Wright and myself would like to thank you so much for the very kind gifts and vouchers that you gave us, we are both absolutely delighted with them and can't wait to go shopping in the sales!
Your children are a real credit to you and a pleasure to teach, we have had a fantastic term with them.
We would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Mrs Gibson XX
Please note that our first swimming session will be the first Friday back after the Christmas Holidays, we will be swimming for four sessions, with the final one being 25th January. During this time, there will be no Forest Schools, Miss Palmer's class will participate for four consecutive weeks. After which, 3G will have four weeks of Forest Schools, while Miss Palmer's class swim.
Please also note that the Portals of the Past day for Ancient Egypt will be on Tuesday January 22nd and the children will be encouraged to dress up in an Ancient Egyptian costume.
May I take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Due to unforeseen circumstances last week, forest schools had to be cancelled. In order for the children to experience their final forest schools before Christmas, we have decided to take out the whole of year 3 tomorrow. Please ensure that your child brings their forest schools kit in tomorrow so that they are able to participate. Dates for next term will shortly appear on the web page.
Forest Schools this half term will be on the following dates:
29th November (this will be our last session until after Christmas).
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mrs Basaras will be starting her maternity leave a little earlier than planned. If you have booked a Parents' Evening appointment with her next Monday or Tuesday, I will be able to see you the week commencing 29.10.18 (immediately after half term). It would be preferable if you could choose either Monday, Thursday or Friday after school. Please make a note in your child's reading record book of your preferred date and time, or pop in to see me to arrange.
Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely summer - You are now in the juniors!!
Our first topic will be 'Stone Age to Iron Age'
Our first literacy focus will be story writing. We will be focusing on the text of 'Stone Age Boy' by Satoshi Kitamura and writing our own versions.
In maths we will start by recapping place value and rehearsing our number skills.
In science our first focus will be rocks and soils.
This year, we will be doing outdoor PE on a Wednesday and indoor PE on a Friday.
Please make sure your child has a full PE kit in school. This includes a t-shirt, shorts, plimsolls and a dark coloured, plain tracksuit. Trainers can be worn for outdoor PE. Please also remember that earrings are not allowed to be worn in school. If your child has earrings in, they will not be able to participate in PE lessons.
Please also make sure your child has a full, named water bottle in school.
Please remember that they will now need to bring in a healthy snack from home if they want to eat at morning break time.
